The
ThinkPad Edge with Intel processors features a progressive design with color
options, simplified keyboard layout and worry-free manageability with great
Intel CPO performance and battery life. With the ThinkPad Edge 14, Lenovo has
taken its small business offering to a new level, with more power and typing
comfort than its 13-inch sibling, the Edge 13. This notebook offers strong Core
i3 performance, solid endurance, stylish looks, and an amazing keyboard, all at
a price that even a struggling startup can afford.
The
Edge 14 is no ultraportable, but it compares favorably to other 14-inch small
business notebooks like the T410 (5.2 pounds), the Dell Latitude E5400 (5.6
pounds), and the HP probook 4510s (5.7 pounds). We were able to carry both the
laptop and a giant pile of books with us back and forth from work on a couple
of occasions without.
The
14 inches display is plenty bright, and the screen's LED backlighting ensures
that colors pop. The panel has a glossy finish that’s great for video and
imaging, but if you often work under fluorescent lights or with a window behind
you, be warned of the glare and reflections it produces. And since the Edge 14 is
not yet a configure to order model, you can’t opt for a matte screen as you can
with most other ThinkPads. The panel’s 1,366x768 resolution is fine for
business use, delivering crisp text without forcing you to zoom in to read it.
Just note that more expensive laptops offer higher-resolution panels that let
you see more of your open windows at once.
